Sûreté du Québec and community engagement in Vaudreuil-Soulanges

The Vaudreuil-Dorion Tamil Association and MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges held an informative session with students about the Sûreté du Québec police force. The primary function of the Sûreté du Québec is to enforce provincial laws, some municipal bylaws, the criminal code, and many other laws throughout Quebec and to assist municipal police forces when needed.
Sgt. Catherine Sénéchal, Community Relations Officer from the MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges spoke on the mission of the Sûreté du Québec and the role of its officers in the maintenance of public peace and order, enforcement of laws, and prevention and detection of crime.
The Sûreté du Québec, as the national police force, contributes throughout the territory of Québec, to maintaining peace and public order, preserving life, safety and fundamental human rights and protecting property. The Sûreté du Québec also supports the police community, coordinates major police operations, contributes to the integrity of governmental institutions and ensures the safety of transport networks under Québec jurisdiction.
